Baby of Laxmi Bai Twin -1
A male preterm infant, born at 26 weeks and weighing 900 grams, was one of a set of twins. Sadly, the other twin succumbed to a severe intracranial bleed on the fourth day at the referring hospital. This baby was transferred to our facility from Gulbarga on day 6, requiring ventilator support, and weighed 700 grams upon admission. He was ventilated for two days before being extubated, then received non-invasive ventilation for five days, followed by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).
The infant has been under our care for 63 days and was discharged weighing 1750 grams. Throughout his stay, there were no instances of culture-positive sepsis, intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), or periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). He presented with a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) at admission, which has since resolved. The baby was also placed on necessary supplements.
The total medical bill amounted to approximately 2.6 million rupees, which has been settled with the applicable discount applied. The child’s current health status, summarized in the diagnosis, shows significant improvement. Now at 10 months old, he weighs around 8 kilograms and is developing well.
